Walking in for the first time presents a rather dull atmosphere, and mirroring that, the curt customer-service from the owners (I assume a husband-wife team?). No fake smiles. No false attitude. I actually appreciate that. The lack-luster setting also comes with a stillness and calm. It's rarely crowded. They don't blare nauseating music, thank god. The restaurant is seemingly tucked away from the main hub of the plaza, in a back corner that is easy to walk past and go unnoticed. The food is what I would call "authentic." It's not cheap and hastly made, nor is it pompous and overpriced. You won't break the bank eating here either. Expect to shell out $10-$15 on average for a meal with generous portions.
Great food, great price
its my go to place for a great lunch at a great price point. its a shame that the interior has not been upgraded in long time.
Love this place. Great food. 15 year customers 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
A dying breed of old school Chinese food. Most of our 70's style restaurants have closed up over the years. This place is holding it's own. Although with uncertain plans for the property, anything can change. We've never eaten there, strictly take out. But it's always prepared well, and every menu item we've enjoyed to the finish.
Food sucks. If that's not enough, these people are liars. Ordered a lunch dish to go. The menu clearly states: lunch includes soup+egg roll (a disgusting one). When I get the food the soup is not there. When I ask, I'm told that it does not come with to go orders. Would have asked for my money back if I was not in a hurry. Finally, minimum card order is $15. These people are clearly still stuck in the Tang dynasty era...
We like a lot going out. Last night we visited this fine place which friends recommended to us. We had a beautiful time there with exceptional meal and a courteous stuff and a talented cook. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we will certainly return very soon. We deeply recommend.
Food always fresh and delicious..people who work there very friendly..
Pot stickers are my litmus test for good Chinese food, and they failed miserably.
FREAKING RODENTS....! CHECK THEIR HISTORY....! EAT HERE AT YOU OWN RISK!
The best place china food
Great value for money. Service is not formal but food comes out quick. Food's a little greasy but tasty.
I ordered pan fried noodles - I threw it away!!! It smelled like urine!!! It’s so pungent and really could not eat it. I have ordered pan fried noodles from other places and this is the very first time that it smelled so bad! I will not order here ever again
Delicious authentic cuisine n friendly customer service. We've been coming here for about 20 yrs❤️ always have our birthday dinners here!
We had a great in this place. We liked the superb atmosphere and the food. The waiters were very friendly. I’m content we eventually managed to visit this restaurant.
Delicious combination noodle soup. (Beef, chicken and shrimp) Everything tasted great. The shrimp tasted so fresh! Great lunch for under $10.
Love the orange chicken it's a secret special sauce the y use on it. Cant wait to try something else.
Cup of Wonton soup for dine in lunch orders only. Love the spicy tomato paste they have on the table as an add on.
Food is good, place is clean, people are really helpful and nice. I always get takeout. My favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent for many years now it's totally horrid. The waitress was rude and Curt. Perhaps this is benefit because she was hardly around anyway. I ordered moo shu pork which I have enjoyed here many times before. It had ABSOLUTELY NO PORK in it. I open #2 of 4 and looking at it absolutely no pork. I rejected it!WE SHALL NEVER RETURN!
I loved it. The dishes i had were tasty. The dressing for their salads was wonderful. Good place for Lunch and dinner. Good prices too.
Food was very good hot and fresh
Ignore all of the negative reviews. This place is beyond friendly and super clean. Chinese food has a negative connotation, even Panda Express isn’t good. But here at Mandarin Dish, the service and food is delicious. I honestly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Chinese food spot that will be worth spending money and eating at. The food from our egg rolls to the honey walnut shrimp tasted fresh delicious and homemade. Nothing felt like it came out of a bag; everything felt as if it was made with passion. Honestly if you haven’t tried Mandarin Dish, then you haven’t tasted exquisite Chinese food and service.
I told my friends about this place with my highest recommendations. I visit this place often. This recommendation is always successful. The the cooking is yummy and the stuff is welcoming and cooperative. Every time we visit this place we have a delightful evening. I warmly recommend this restaurant.
1970's throwback old school Chinese restaurant.. in a good way. Hidden in the back of a strip mall with green booth seating this hole in the wall has all your classic favorites. I had the combo egg foo young (chicken, beef, shrimp). First they wok up a egg & bean sprout "patty/omelet", then cover it with meat and vegetables(bell peppers, water chestnuts, broccoli, carrots, snow peas) in a brown sauce. Tasty but suprised they don't serve it with steamed rice? That costs $1.25 extra! A good sized portion, I left full. I went on a Monday and it was slow. A couple and three individual diners were the only customers. And no delivery going out the door I could see. Service was minimal but OK.
Hidden gem in Culver City. Chinese Food that is clean and tasty. I recommend take out as it was efficient.
😋😋😋
I'm no foodie and no Chinese food connoisseur, but I am a Canadian expat and the sweet and sour chicken was the closest I've had to sweet and sour chicken balls in my 11 years in Los Angeles!
I’m from the Midwest and the last few times I’ve ate Chinese food outside of the Midwest it was a huge upset. As for This restaurant 5 STARS. Food was excellent and service was as well. Will be returning.
My family has enjoyed the food of this restaurant for many years. Our favorite dishes are Fish fillet w/black bean sauce, Fish fillet in lemon sauce w/the sauce at the side and the braised string beans. The quality of the food and service is excelent. Moreover, the waitress whose name is Sun provides a wonderful atmosphere with her genuine care towards the customers needs. Sun is a pleasure to see everytime we dine there.
Great lunch specials and a cheap price. The service is top notch. Good eats cheap on the Westside, a rare find.
$15 minimum for credit card. Price is higher than what is listed on Google. Food quality is about the same as fast food quality.
Perfect little restaurant in a sleepy strip mall of Fox Hills. Reminded me of my neighborhood Chinese restaurant in the 90's. Food is good, plentiful and prices are very reasonable. I hope this place stays around forever.
Great tasteful food deliver promptly, love this place!!
A hidden gem behind Westfield Mall with an amzing Cantonese chef.Had the Beef Hor fun with gravy and Chicken fried rice. Can taste the 'Wok Hei' which is a signature of excellent wok cooking style. The Chinese tea made the overall experience even better!这里师傅是广东人,炒的很香。份量大,很适合华人口味。
Food is great! I have had the orange chicken which is great and mostly shrimp dishes which I really enjoy. Generous amounts of shrimp and vegetables. They will make substitutions with issue.
Been coming here for years food is always great.. I love the the sweet and sour pork. Always craving..
Food is very good and reasonably priced.
Great prices for lunch but poor customer service...I came in around 2pm for the lunch special which was great and the waitress/hostess was super loud and obnoxious about my drink order, even insinuating that I wasn’t of age. There were only 3-4 other people in the restaurant so everyone heard. She even made loud remarks to my table in front of everyone. About 20 minutes into my meal she brought the check and to go box as if she was rushing me out. It wasn’t busy or backed up. I felt unwelcome and judged. Great prices for lunch or if you need delivery but I won’t be spending money here again In the restaurant .
Green beans and eggplant are pretty aunthentic Chinese dishes.
Was craving thai tea, also got some spicy tofu. Everything we ordered was delicious! Only ones in the restaurant for lunch, hardly saw the staff(remained back of house) but were timely.
Good value for the lunch special. You can eat and have a full belly for 10 bucks. Pretty standard Chinese menu. The ingredients could have been a little bit fresher. On the plus side there was no line and it's a little hidden place in the shopping center. Okay for a quick lunch by yourself.
Would certainly recommend eating here. Fantastic ambience, fresh food, excellent customer service. I recommend this place.
Staff was fussing in kitchen... Slow serve and slow pay. A bad day.
Perfect old-school fix
Good Chinese dishes for lunch over there. Enjoy!
Food was passable but there seems to be a language barrier so the wait staff doesn't take special requests. For instance my lunch mate ordered the House fried rice without onions or scallions but when his order arrived it had both.
This place is closed permanently it is being leased sold please update it's not open
Lunch combos are great at a low price
A very affordable and filling neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy, but delicious all the same. Perfect for a few tired travelers to enjoy a quieter place with good service and flavors to enjoy.
